Crash Data

I sometimes get a crash when using the quick filter in TB 3.1 on a newsgroup to see only the unread messages in the group.

I haven't been able to reproduce this with a new profile. So I guess it affects upgraded profiles. This profile goes back to at least Thunderbird 1 from what I recall.
morkNode::morkNode(morkEnv*, morkUsage const&, nsIMdbHeap*) is rare crash.
most on crash-stats are v3.1 - 3x more 3.1 crashes than 3.0.4

1. TB (with such build) crashes with probability 100% as I entering *any* text in the quick filter box.It crashes at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd entered character, randomly.

2. This seems to be fixed by a later revision of TB 3.1 (not sure the revision, how to show it?)

If you think the bug is caused by environment or configuration files, I can provide if you wish.

Do you crash if you start in safe-mode (see https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode for more information)

I couldn't reproduce (even in the Safe Mode) the bug with my current settings any more.

As far as I can tell, the only change I have made was

1. Right click the Inbox folder
2. Click property
3. Click "Remake the index"

(After the list of msg in inbox got corrupted)

I will try to provide as possible as I can, feel free to ask questions.
The first sign that it's only a matter of time to hit this crash is when I start seeing the same message repeated multiple times in a newsgroup.

Let me repeat myself:

As far as I can tell, the only change I have made was

1. Right click the Inbox folder
2. Click property
3. Click "Remake the index"

(After the list of msg in inbox got corrupted)

And so far so good, I have not encounterd the bug.

So, all I can tell is that: Probably, the bug is due to corrupted index in ThunderBird 3.1
The workaround in this bug is not totally effective. This crash still does come back again.
We're hoping to have a fix in 3.1.7 for this.

I haven't seen a crash since 11/17/2010 with 3.1.6 so marking verified dup.

3.6.16 (Vietnamese version) on Windows XP SP3 Japanese does not crash.

that's odd, given that 3.1.6 had no thunderbird fixes. it was a security release.

perhaps your issue was fixed in in 3.1.5 and you somehow skipped 3.1.5?

anyway, most of these crashes are indeed gone with version3.1.7 / bug 593007 per comment 11 - crashes dropped by about 90% in version 3.1.7

Sorry, I did mean Thunderbird 3.1.7 Vietnamese version
(the latest version as of now)

Probably, I thought I has skipped 3.1.5

Crashing with 3.1.7 has not been seen since the first day I used it.

I know you are curious which patch did fix the bug, but sorry, I have no clue.

Hint on how to reproducing the bug (as good as I can remember)

1. Make TB crash so that you have to rebuild inbox (and/or other TB's folder) index(ese)
2. Now, high probability that this bug will be reproduced.

That's all that I can remember.
