I was wrong about removing the search button from the search bar. It's a poor experience when a user is forced to focus onto the search field and press enter to perform a search when they've only changed OS/locale/sentiment/date ranges.
As for placement:
On the Dashboard and Search Results page, put the button to the right of the "advanced" link (move the "advanced" link in to the left).

The positioning of the "advanced" link along with it turning white on click is kind of tricky if I don't position it absolute on the right anymore, so I opted to keep the advanced link where it is and move the search button to the left of it.
If you think that's not acceptable, let me know and I can probably pull some CSS tricks to make it work. I am just concerned that those will break when this is being localized down the road.

Looks good, actlly. I like the separation between the search button and the advanced link. verified FIXED on functionality.
