+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #534701 +++

Bug 534701 originally landed a fix to the test code in crashreporter that switched it to internal linkage and sorted out the linking for various apps.

Unfortunately when the lorentz landing was done on 1.9.2, bug 534701 attachment 417541 [details] [diff] [review] never got landed on 1.9.2, even though the second patch in that bug did.

Although this doesn't affect current Thunderbird 3.1 production builds, we'd like to be able to run a linux 64 bit builder, currently this build is failing due to the wrong linkage and we have determined attachment 417541 [details] [diff] [review] will fix those tests.

Therefore re-attaching patch that already has r=ted as per 534701 and requesting approval for 1.9.2 landing.
