574426 - Broken functionality of remembering last location of save file to folder in 3.6.4 version

I have the same settings for 3.6.3 and after 3.6.4 upgrade doesn't change anything in my settings. I use option: "ask me for every location where downloaded files should be saved". In 3.6.3 the last save location was remembered by aplication between close and open again firefox browser. In 3.6.4 if i download file to any specified folder close firefox and open it again and save another file the saving location is always reseted to default Firefox download folder which is very annoying to me. Please revert behaviour to the original one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Check option to ask for saving location before every download of file in 3.6.4 edition
2.download file to c:\files
3.just close firefox 3.6.4 after download.
4.open again firefox application and try to download another file from internet - save dialog will not remember last location c:\files of saved files.


Expected Results:  
The step 4 - save to dialog should point to last location I saved file c:\filde (which was NOT removed moved or deleted meantime)

I had exactly the same problem as Mike with 3.6.4 and still have the problem with 3.6.6.  I find it incredibly annoying to have to navigate to my preferred downloads location each time I fire Firefox up- I won't repeat the language I use- it's the same language I tend to use on microsloth products and adobe for the same mindless behavours.

It's almost as if you have a secret microsoft programmer in there somewhere, trying to convert Firefox to their **** way of working.

Please, please, please can we go back to the real Firefox way of doing things??

The problem still exist on Firefox 3.6.6. Please revert back remembering last saving position like in version 3.6.3 between firefox browser close and open!

The problem still persist in firefox 3.6.13 . It began with version 3.6.4 and is probably connected with process isolation featue (saving locatin of file).

I am Not using ver 4 nor 5 and I never will due too much similiarity to IE8/9 and disabling stop button on navi bar. The GUI is pece of ****. Plese correct this in 3.6.x line and everything is fine.

I tried to reproduce the Issue against 3.6 & recent Nightly and failed.

"Always aks me where to save files" sets "browser.download.useDownloadDir" to "false".

The last used Download Folder is saved with the Pref "browser.download.lastDir", what in my Tests is correctly saved and used before doing the second Download.

Can you check if the Pref "browser.download.lastDir" in "about:config" is containing the Download Dir of the first Download?

Mike: you mentioned in Comment 0 that "the saving location is always reseted to default Firefox download folder".
Is that Folder the one in the "browser.download.dir" Pref? Or do you mean the Firefox Installation Dir?

Dear XtC4UaLL,

At the begining I would like to Thank You that after long period of time You want to take care of reported problem. 
Answering to Your last question is:
\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Download on XP - Firefox made it after first run/Download on clean XP system and use it as default Download Dir. The option "I choose location myself"(I translate it from polish text) is reseted from Firefox ver. 3.6.4 to default folder after browser restart if You save to another folder. But the GUI option "I choose location myself" is still correct in GUI - "I choose myself" - only last location(path) is not remembered.

I still use 3.6.3 which behaves correctly with last save location (remembers it always correctly).

The things You have to take care and check on my reported versions 3.6.4-3.6.13:
1.You have to exit browser between attempts or even try to exit browser and  restart XP machine next. If You download after XP restart - the last location is missed although it still persist on the hard drive and default is used(pointed by my at the begining of this post).

I said not precisely, so again :
The option "I choose location myself"(I translate it from polish text) from Firefox ver. 3.6.4 always uses default folder after browser restart if You save to another folder ,but the GUI option "I choose location myself" is still correct in GUI - "I choose myself" - only last location(path) is not remembered. This is what I mean.

Another Question: do you use the "Clear Recent History when Firefox closes" Function by Chance?

If yes, this is a Duplicate of Bug 574253 what tells that the Behavior is by Design (Bug 528416). Bug 528416 got checked in for 3.6.4.

Yes I do. But I am not pleased, that remembrance of download location feature has changed in 3.6.4. It should be reserved for separate option - for example private browsing or new check box added for clearing/preserving it. The other behaviour was by design for years and should be customized for user but not forced!;) The new behaviour is unplesant not only to me as You can see, but not all pepole has enough determination for writing qbout it here.
