User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100611 Firefox/3.6.4 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.10) Gecko/20100512 Thunderbird/3.0.5

OCCASIONALLY (daily), when using REPLY, the ORIGINAL MESSAGE includes text from another, unrelated message (the one previously viewed, not from same sender). THIS IS DANGEROUS - I have to read the original messages over for every reply I send, just in case! Cannot reproduce it faithfully, but happens at least once a day. Thereafter, the vertical line denoting ORIGINAL MESSAGE includes the area to type the reply message (reply at top), and the outgoing signature too. In this case, the "ON25/06/2010 9:07 AM, SOMEONE WROTE:" line is also missing.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.View a message form INBOX (preview panel or opened message).
2.Preview another message. Click REPLY.
3.Inspect the ORIGINAL MESSAGE for traces of other, unrelated messages (usually between the reply, and the actual message being replied to)
Actual Results:
OCCASIONALLY, excerpts of unrelated messages are included in the reply, after the reply, before the actual message being replied to. OFTEN, the next REPLY I send will have a vertical bar (indicating replied-to message) to the left of the body of the reply (reply on top), and also to the left of my outgoing HTML signature.

Expected Results:
Only the relevant message being replied to should be quoted in the text below my reply. Subsequent Replies should not have the vertical bar above the original message (using reply on top).

I cannot reproduce this consistently, even using the same two messages, but it happens at least once a day, and has through several updates of Thunderbird. I have used TB for about five months now, and noticed it for at least three. I never had this problem with Outlook Express, in 6+ years of using it on this and other computers. Restarting TB does not fix the vertical line issue - but sometimes it goes on for every reply thereafter until shutdown, sometimes only for a few replies.
I think I understand this better - it has not happened for two days since I tried NOT EDITING my signature from within a compose message screen (to make it less formal, for instance). Not sure, but this may have something to do with the problem. Otherwise, it was happening several times a day (not on emails I edited the signature on, but maybe on the next one). It would also kill the spell-check feature when the problem happened (until computer was restarted). If this is not the cause, I have to stop using Thunderbird, as it is too dangerous to be accidentally sending someone information from another email.
kweller, do you still encounter this issue?
