Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100608 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1
When Thunderbird for any number of reasons cannot recognize the profile or display the contents of global-messages-db.sqlite [which is the case with a number of people right now see bug 533820 and http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/upgraded_to_tb_3_0_and_profiles_are_gone]
being able to use tools/import to import global-messages-db.sqlite and other data would go a long way to ease frustration and loss of users.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.move the xxx.default file to another drive
2.try editing profile.ini to point to it
3.reboot and open thunderbird.
4.if the xxx.default file is now a subfolder and when clicked the e-mails pane is blank click on tools/import
5. find that sqlite files are not available for import. [not in the list]
Expected Results:
I should have another way of retrieving sqlite contents.

I have down loaded the moz-backup utility. However, after a restore I can see the same problem and need hapening if thunderbird constantly refuses to read the restored backup. It is essentailly the same as copying to another drive and then back which is what I did, unless moz-backup does something different to allow Thunderbird to recognize the data base files.
