I had previously set several message filters previously, however when I try now to create them I simply do not have the functionality to do this!

It allows me to generate a filter, set the actions, but does NOT allow me to enter the parameters (e.g. if I want to filter say Nigeria gold, I cannot enter because there is no box to enter the parameters!

Basically instead of having 3 drop down menus. I have 2!

Is there a configuration that I have disabled? if so what is the point of it as message filters are pointless without definable parameters!!!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rebooted windows
2. updated thunderbird (as of 28 June 2010)
3. tried system restore to an earlier date
Actual Results:
start the application. go to message filters under tools

The message filters window appears, but no dropdown for parameters

Expected Results:
Should be able to enter the parameters for the message filters
Please check if this is a duplicate of bug 297006, and if so mark it.

We really ought to fix that, it gets reported a lot.

Paul can you answer comment 1 ?
it is nothing like comment 1!!!
Paul, try to just grab your filter window and make it larger. You might have to make it larger, close it, then reopen it again. Does that solve your problem?
I tried ALL of that BEFORE I contacted you!!!
The screen that you showed is identical to that which you get by shrinking the window vertically. This is a very common complaint, and is the most likely explanation for the screen that you showed, in spite of your assertions in comment 4

Just to placate me, could you also show a screen in which you have increased the vertical size of the filter editor window significantly?
apologies you are correct!! - I see what the problem is now - you have locked the distance between the two windows, but not the minimum height of the parameters windows.

Should be a relatively straight forward parameter change in the gui, but I shall leave - suitable chastised!!!
