... Which makes it practically useless. Needs to be added before Beta 1.

it's by design to reduce UI duplication, the Star button is your target.

Hmm, why the Star button bookmark page as unsorted and then you cen place it elsewhere? While it's great to reduce UI duplication, why makes it more complicated that it was before?

1. you can click the star twice and choice position
2. the new button has unsorted bookmarks folder too while old menu had not
3. you can still use the old shortcut and also the old menu
4. you can right click on page and Bookmark this page
5. you can drag & drop the favicon to the menu or the button
6. this bug won't ever block beta1
7. you should not change status of the bugs once a peer or owner changes it

I'm the owner and I didn't change anything.
you're owner of the bug, I was talking about owner of the code module.
But still, I didn't change anything. I respect the developer's decision.

You reopened it, but you may have done it by accident because bugzilla doesn't communicate conflicts well (did you get a page that talks about a mid-air collision?)
No, I have just posted reply, that's all.
I personally think that this should be fixed as it makes it easier to transition from IE and it seems strange to have a bookmarks widget that doesn't allow you to bookmark the current page.

But whats about Subscribe To This Page Option. It's also absent.
that option is controversial also in the bookmarks menu, it was already asked to remove it from there as well (bug 519942). the rss icon in the locationbar is doing a much better work.
But we need User Experience team on these topics.

bookmark this page -> star icon, context menu of page
bookmark all tabs -> context menu of the tab strip only
subscribe to this page and web feed icon-> send menu, context menu of page, control placed on the toolbar customization pallet
I added this back to the bookmarks menu over in bug 583386, partly because it felt strange to have subscribe without bookmark, and partly because it is such a high usage menu item. It is redundant though, which isn't great.

This is the intended behavior for the Bookmarks widget.
