ever since the old ages of windows, there used to be an icon in most windows on the top left border, which extended the system menu when you click it, where you could select restore, move, size, minimize, close and the like. when actually double-clicking this icon or the top-left area of a window it would complete the close (alt+f4) function and close the window.
this apparently doesnt work with firefox 4b1 (testing on win32/win7) any more. near that area there is this new orange-ish firefox-labled dropdown whateveritscalled, but there is no area which would react to the doubleclick or extend the system-menu of the firefox window any more.
i actually use this function quite often as its handy when windows are in full-size/maximized mode, as you simply push your mouse all the way to the upper/left area of your screen without needing to pay attention too much for an exact target that much and it will simply automagically land on that area whatever normal window/app is currently running, and it closes your window.
is this function gonna come back for firefox4 or are we out of luck? maybe doubleclicking on the organge firefox-label-dropdown-thingy could at least trigger the alt+f4 functionality?
internetexplorer 8 on win32/win7 for example provides this system-menu (and icon) and also the alternative to right-click into the top bar/border area which also extends the system menu of the internet explorer 8 window providing various window managing functions (move size minimize maximize restore close, etc...)
thanks. regards.
Reproducible: Always
Actual Results:
functionality is not provided.
Expected Results:
firefox to provide a system menu when being clicked on its topmost left windows border area, and doubleclicking such an area executing the window-close (alt+f4) function.
Summary: firefox 4.0 (beta1) on windows does provide system menu any more - double clicking it for close window (alt+f4 like) → firefox 4.0 (beta1) on windows does not provide system menu any more - lacking double clicking it for close window (alt+f4 like)
