In the latest XULRunner release the caret leaves a trace when moving it using the arrow keys in a textbox field.

This does NOT happen when I disable d2d. So it seems to depend on my d2d prefs.

This is the clipping issues we had I believe. Those were pushed to trunk now, please retest with latest build! :)
