User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6
Build Identifier: Gecko/20100608 Thunderbird/3.1

When sending email frequently several addresses are taken from more than 1 list. Since the lists are not open in the AB sidebar, the AB must be opened full screen for reference which requires individual address memorization and entry in the compose. If the lists could be open in the sidebar, they could merely be selected from the PAB or other books.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Compose (new msg) window
2. Address book sidebar only carries PAB, not lists within the PAB.
3.

Expected Results:
Show open lists in the PAB & in other address books.

Until a month ago I had separate address books which were composed of the lists in the PAB. Deleted these address books due to the ongoing difficulty of copying from the PAB to lists. Now realize that these lists are no longer viewable in the Compose window, only in the main and lengthy PAB. And searching through the entire PAB is long and cumbersome. (Note that there is a several year old separate bug to correct the difficulty of copying addresses, but it has never been rectified. Bug 282841 & 58485 This has resulted in my common usage of Gmail on their website in lieu of Thunderbird.)

Curious as to why this remains unconfirmed. To simplify the request, what is needed is to show PAB lists in the Compose window in order to access and add addresses to an email as opposed to scanning through a lengthy PAB.
