There is a possibility to add such new folders via search, but that is (in my opinion) a half working/poorly visible "solution" to this request. (They don't get displayed nice, and don't work nice). And/or a better detection for available folders to make unified would be nice (Virus/Spam and other frequently created folders). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. -

I'm probably being dense, but I'm not understanding most of this description, for example a) what a "non-manual" search is, and b) the goal/what part of the UI isn't working well. Also, what I am reading sounds like two, three or more issues, and we don't normally do that in a single bug. Please describe in more detail what you want this folder pane to look like. It would be helpful to have a specific example (with file names) of the steps you would use to manage these folders if this feature were provided. A mock up/screen shot may help.

When thunderbird is installed it creates "Unified folders" for the Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Archives and Trash. The "advised" way to create one of these folders by hand is via saved searches. These saved searches do not have the ability to unfold and show every account like the auto created "unified folders". I would like to create these unfold able "unified folders" for my Spam and Virus folders which exist for every account. I hope this clarifies a bit.

Hi, having been redirected here, my two cents with an example. What I would like to have is the ability to define a smart folder that says, for example, "work" that shows together several folders (bills, courses, pending...) in several accounts. Of course I want to keep separated folders to have things organised, but often I just want to see everything with one click.

I use TB 6.x. I have sixteen IMAP accounts to manage, and I am likely to get more soon. I love the "Unified Folders" cross-account feature for the Inbox, Sent, Junk, etc. I would like to creat my own custom Unified Folders that would combine folders in the same or different accounts into a single view, the way the Global Inbox works now. I had assumed there was a way to do it - but I am stunned that there isn't, at least not yet. Please consider adding this killer feature to TB. An example of an implementation is the Macintosh Smart Folders feature found in its Mail.app.
