577637 - Firefox freezes when calling the preferences

Firefox with blank page and called in safe-mode freezes when clicking on the
preference ("Extras->Einstellungen") button. Then, according to the task manager Firefox is doing nothing (maybe deadlock ?). 

It freezes also (with same behaviour) if I attempt to download some pdf-file to disk (also in safe-mode).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start Firefox
2. select Extra -> Einstellungen
3. hang up
Actual Results:  
see above

Expected Results:  
obviously not to freeze but to show the settings

And you got the same issue with a new profile ?

The stack looks similar to the one in bug 573977

I created a new profile but I also created a new account. In both cases with the same negative result.

Yes, it's version 1.6.8  (and I heavily depend on it!)

Deinstalling TortoiseSVN didn't help: Firefox still freezes when performing the same actions.

Does it happen with windows started in safemode?

sorry, but this bug dates from 2010. Soon after reporting the bug, I moved to Windows7. Since then I never experienced a similar bug again.
