User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.99 Safari/533.4 Build Identifier: Firefox 3.6.3 1) I downloaded 3.6.6 , but could not install as I got a message stating that Firefox should not be running during the upgrade. It was NOT running? The process became a loop ? 2) I tried to uninstall 3.6.3 and start with a fresh 3.6.6. Again I got the message that Firefox should NOT be running . It was NOT running. The process became a loop. Reproducible: Always
It looks like you have a firefox.exe process still running in the background. Try to uninstall 3.6.3, restart your computer, then install 3.6.6. Then, this is probably caused by an extension, so a new profile may be in order. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
