578073 - Since Upgrade to Thunderbird 3.1 my sent email is no longer saved in the sent folder and I see "Building Summary File for Sent..."

I can send email and see it immediately display in the sent folder.  After I close Thunderbird and re-open the program, my sent messages are gone.  I only have from 7/2/2010 and before.  Everything since the upgrade to new 3.1 is not being saved.  I did compact the folder as well as repair, and went as far as deleting the sent.mts <-I think that's the right extension) folder.

Also now when I click the sent folder it takes a few seconds to display emails. Status bar says that its "Building Summary File for Sent..."  

If I send an email and see it in the sent folder, then move on to other folders and do not go back to the sent folder for a few minutes, It builds the Summary File again, and my Sent Email is gone.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send email.
2. Close Program
3. Open Program
Actual Results:  
Email is missing from Sent Folder

Expected Results:  
Emails do not disappear.

No Theme being used. No addons being used.

sounds like antivirus software. what happens if you reinstall (uninstall v3.1 first)?  you may as well use v3.1, available from http://getthunderbird.com/

It sounds phenomeon when folder file size exceeds file size limit(4GB if Win, 2GB if Linux, MacOS X). See bug 387502(fixed by Tb 3.0) for cause and problem with Tb 2.0.x. 
(1) Check file path via Folder Properties/Location:
(2) Rename file of Sent(not Seen.msf) to Sent-2, Sent.msf to Sent.
(3) Restart Tb, Folder Properties of Sent(Sent.msf is renamed to Sent),
    Repair Folder(Rebuild-Index if Tb 3.0, Tb 2.0)
(4) Copy a mail to the new/empty Sent folder
Can mail be copied to Sent succesfully?
(5) Send a mail to your self.
Is sent mail saved in Sent succesfully?

What is file size of Sent-2?
(not rounded value to KB, MB, GB, exact file size in bytes)

(6) Show "Order Received" column and Size column of Sent-2.
    Value in "Order Received" column is offset in mail folder ile.
    Sort by "Order Received" column, in ascendig order.
(7) Check mails of small "Order Received" values(top part of thread pain).
Is ( "Order Received" value + Size value of a mail) == ( "Order Received" value of next mail) for any mails of some mails of small offset values?
Date of mails are sufficiently old? No mails around 7/2/2010?
(8) Check mails of largest "Order Received" values(bottom part of thread pane).
Are all mails at bottom part dated around 7/2/2010?

When did your problem start to occur?
(Just after upgrade of Tb, suddenly from a day, after install of add-on, ....)
What were happening on Sent after 7/2/2010 to 7/12/2010(bug open date)?
