Visiting http://www.drumbeat.org gives a off-line page served by Drupal: "Site off-line The site is currently not available due to technical problems. Please try again later. Thank you for your understanding." My first suspicion would be that MySQL has taken a dive, but if someone could investigate ASAP that would be appreciated.
Probably a dupe of bug 578688.
Aren't MySQL and Apache running on the same physical machine for drumbeat.org? I think Drupal is configured to connect to MySQL running on 127.0.0.1 and HTTP is still responsive and quick.
Hmm, yeah, probably not a dupe then. :-) Just wanted to let you know of that possibility since IT was tied up fixing it and wasn't likely to be able to get to this before that. :-)
Nope, it's connecting to a DB server in San Jose, which it can't get to at the moment because of fallout from bug 578688.

Above.net has experienced a fiber cut in Nevada which is impacting our connectivity to Phoenix (Above ticket #20100714-228). Repairs are expected to take several hours, I'll update here when we have a workaround.
Repair crews are expected to reach the damaged site in 2 hours. We'll get a more accurate ETA at that point. Until then, we are operating on a backup VPN. This VPN is limited in performance, but should be fast enough for our current needs.
Repairs on our portion of the damaged cable have been completed, and full connectivity between MPT and PHX has been restored.
