Got the idea from iOS 4.  The intent is to make it more obvious to users what's going on when they switch into in Unified mode.

Can you unpack what effect you think having Inbox first has?  It's not clear to me exactly what you're asking...

I don't know whether that's generally true, but it certainly could be.  However, it's not obvious to me what disadvantage you see to having the first word be "All" rather than "Inbox".  Suppose your eye is drawn to "All" before the whole thing.  What consequence of that are you concerned about?

Perhaps the idea is that it would take a little while to be able to distinguish between All Templates, All Sent, All Trash, etc. Inbox isn't so hard since it's always first, and the icons should in theory help.

bienvenu. yes, that's exactly it. If this bug is limited to just inbox (which it is) then my skimming ways should not stand in the way of clarity for all.
