This is a tracking bug for the localization of the firstrun page that will be used in our beta cycle for Firefox 4. Individual per locale bugs will be filed as dependencies of this bug. All locales have now a /4beta/ folder in their SVN repository. The firstrun page is split in 3 tasks: - translation of the page itself : /firefox/4beta/firstrun/index.html - adding and translating 4 new strings in your main.lang file, these strings are for the video player on this page and will be used in other pages on the site - translation of the subtitles for the video located in /includes/l10n/sub-fx4-firstrun-beta.html The subtitles are a simple html file, each subtitle is enclosed in a <div>.

A couple of typos in the en-US subtitles (I don't know if they'll be used) <div data-start="31">Im working on the Firefox 4 beta program.</div> Im -> I'm <div data-start="55">i worked on the new Add-ons manager in Firefox 4.</div> i worked -> I worked

And line 9 is the only place where the string „Firefox 4“ appears without the . Has this been done deliberately?

Question: * What's max length for one line of subtitles?

(In reply to comment #3) > Question: > * What's max length for one line of subtitles? My stupid question. Better to have a look at the video on the stage :) Sorry for spam.

@flod, I will fix the typo on en-GB where is might be used. @Michael, there should be a non breaking space there, feel free to add it.

Not really a l10n issue, but if en-US is not going to use subtitles it could be: we should change the color of the last link (blue text on blue background) to something more suitable. As far as I understand it should be easy to do via CSS.

Sometimes the subtitles overlap the person name. Since names are embedded inside the video, I'd suggest temporary moving the position of the subtitles when it about to happen. I think it will be nice if the Firefox 4 occurrences will be written with the same font used on the logo. We can do that with an image tag, and leaving Firefox 4 for the img alt.

the font suggestion seems overkill to me :) I'll see what can be done for subtitles

subtitles now move up when they are on top of embedded text

I've submitted the translation for bug 579403 (el) since 16/7 but it's still open and the beta displays the english page. Plus, is there a reason that there's a different video showing up for the en-us page?
