Description

We'd like to get a new staging instance of mozillalabs.com (WPMU) set up so we can see how things go with 3.0. We'd like it to be distinct from the current stage so we can still test and push changes to the current blog while we're mucking about with 3.0

So...

1. Clone mozillalabs.com into a new instance on stage
2. Upgrade the new stage to 3.0

I have this staged at https://labs30.stage.mozilla.com/. Let me know how it looks.
Looks good generally - needs some CSS and theme tuning though.

Where do we find the repo for this site?

Looks like http://svn.mozilla.org/projects/labs.mozilla.com/trunk/blog
Isn't that the old blog (WMPU 2.x.x)? It's at least the repo we have been using so far.

Comment 3 contains all the custom code on the mozillalabs blog. The rest of the blog is just a base wordpress checkout from http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress/tags/3.0/.
Right - but that means that we can't make changes to the 3.0 install as well as the current production install (which is still WMPU 2.x). That's a problem for us as we need to have the ability to make changes to the current production system independent from the 3.0 one.

Can we set up a new repo for the 3.0 "branch"?

Yeah, go ahead and create a branch for dev or for prod.
Okay - we've tested WP 3.0 on stage and it looks all pretty good.

Can we schedule the upgrade of our production servers to 3.0? Once we have this completed - are we using the labs30.stage.mozilla.com for staging?

Thanks! :)

Yep, when would you like this done? I was able to update staging fairly easily, so downtime should be minimal or zero.

What are you using right now?

Whenever it's convenient for you guys. :)

http://labs-newdomain.stage.mozilla.com/
(though this is down since we introduced the new staging site)
Can we get an ETA for this? With the current setup we can't make any changes on the existing website as the SVN repo pulls into the new staging site which is not connected to production.

Thank you! :)

Shoot, was busy catching up on e-mail yesterday and totally spaced this. Do you want to do this during a window? If so we can plan on Tuesday. If you don't care I can do this whenever.
We don't need to do this during a window - happy to do Monday for example.

I can do this today if you'd like. Does 4pm work?
If it's okay for you - let's do this tomorrow. I forgot that Sean Martell is PTO today and it would be good to have him around in case some of the templates need work.

Sorry Sean, I didn't see your comment until just now.
Hey Jeremy,

Which stage URL is wired to the repo now?
https://labs30.stage.mozilla.com/ times out and
http://labs-newdomain.stage.mozilla.com/ gives me an error?
