User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:2.0b1) Gecko/20100630 Firefox/4.0b1 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:2.0b1) Gecko/20100630 Firefox/4.0b1 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

When a page is loaded which has a page title containing a mix of LTR and RTL text (in this case, Latin-alphabet text and Hebrew), and the text is broken at a break between the two directions of text, the text shifts around when the tab is selected (focused).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
(This exact case probably only works on XP Luna theme)
1. Set screen resolution to 1280px wide.
2. Maximise Firefox.
3. Open lots of blank tabs
4. Load http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%D7%99%D7%94%D7%95%D7%94_%282.svg into one tab
5. Open lots more blank tabs (so the tab-bar scrolls)
6. Switch to a blank tab. Notice that "File:2) <four hebrew letters>.…" is displayed on the tab
7. Switch to the loaded page.
Actual Results:
Notice that the tab text changes to "File:<four hebrew letters> …".

Expected Results:
"File:2) <as many of the four hebrew letters as can fit>…" on the tab.
see http://i28.tinypic.com/2hrga69.png for a demo (normal people like me can't seem to do attachments, for some reason)
Keywords: rtl
OS: Windows XP → All
Hardware: x86 → All
This behaviour still occurs in Firefox 4.0b6 on Windows XP, and 4.0b7pre on Windows 7 (Gecko/20101003).

Finally found out how to upload attachments! (This attachment is identical to the URL provided above; I'm celebrating my new-found knowledge about attachments more than anything else.)

It looks as if the expected results assume that we are clipping the text from the visual right, but what we are actually doing is truncating from the logical end. Since the file name in logical order is
 File:<four Hebrew letters>_(2.svg
the behaviour is as expected.

So this is either INVALID, or an RFE to change from truncation to clipping. If the latter, it probably depends on bug 312156.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 4.0.1 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 4 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also, ensure you have the most up to date graphics drivers, operating system updates, and plugin versions (flash, java, etc). If you continue to see this issue with the newest Firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
