The title bar takes a large portion of the screen, which can be given back to the user. You can do something similar to what Adobe did with Photoshop, Dreamweaver,... in CS4 some time ago. 

Google chrome also features something similar, but it does lack a Menu bar, which makes it less user friendly. KEEP THE MENU BAR, and follow adobe's approach, not Google's.

If a similar bug had been reported already, do not mark this one as a duplicate, unless the other bug also requests the menu bar to be kept.

Sorry but this is contrary to the mockups that have been designed for Firefox 4. When the menubar is shown by default the browser will look like a normal application. Using the Firefox button the page title will be hidden and the normal menu will be accessible via the alt key.

OK, I have installed the 4 beta version, and I see that the title bar has two things ONLY: the new "Firefox" button  and the standard window buttons.  ALL OF THE SPACE BETWEEN THOSE TWO IS ***EMPTY***. Below the title bar are the tabs (by default at least), and then is the navigation toolbar. 

So there are three things in total. Why don't you use ALL THAT EMPTY SPACE IN THE TITLE BAR by merging the title bar with the tabs 'bar' or the nav. toolbar?

Notwithstanding the previous sentence, here is another proposal.  When the user presses the alt key, the standard menu is displayed BELOW the title bar, TAKING ADDITIONAL SPACE. Well, the title bar has A LOT  of EMPTY space right after the "Firefox" button; the Menu Bar could be shown next to the "Firefox" button, not taking any additional space. Even better, since that space it empty anyways, the Menu Bar could be put to stay there by default. (I favor this proposal more than the previous one)

Bug 572160 is for giving an option to place the tabs in the title bar area.

The rest of this idea is not in line with the UX team's mockups of Firefox 4.

This is taken care of by Ubuntu's Firefox modifications.
