The tab loading indicator in Firefox gives much more info than the one in SeaMonkey. We should probably port their changes there to our tabbrowser.
http://mxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/search?string=stalled&find=mozilla%2Fbrowser.*browser\.[cx] shows the places with the "stalled" attribute this adds, the "progress" attribute which is also added should be near to that in those files
Actually we added the progress attribute first, to support userChrome.css customisation or third-party extensions. "stalled" is new though.
Bug 544818 is another interesting variant of solving this. I think we could go either way, using the tab icon or such a "line" indicator on tabs - while the line looks a bit more "spiffy", IMHO both are basically equivalent in helpfulness and surely both are better than what we have now.
