While testing Fx4b2, when I tried opening the default news feed (BBC latest headlines) all in tabs, my browser quickly stops responding, and my machine eventually beachballs for a few seconds. The tabs never finish loading. The sad plugin face shows in places where Flash should show, and I have to kill the browser. I can see a similar thing on XP. Both the firefox and the plugin-container process take up a lot of CPU and memory, and it stops responding. Eventually I get a dialog: "Script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: http://node1.bbcimg.co.uk/glow/glow/1.7.3/core/core.js:19" But it still doesn't respond.

Does this happen when opening other Livemarks or bookmark folders of similar size? or is it specific to the BBC feed? Also, your bug summary does not match your description in comment #0, updating.

Summary: opening bbc news feed all in tabs significantly slows down the browser → opening the BBC default livemark all in tabs completely hangs the browser
This works for me (well, we're opening 70+ tabs at the same time, it takes some time!). This bug report would have been much more useful with the actual URLs.

Covered in triage - we think this is expected (though disappointing) behaviour - asking the browser to open a ton of stuff at once will be slow until E10s.
