581537 - Install Extension causes T-bird to freeze

Build Identifier: 3.1.1

Under Tools/Add-Ons/Extensions, if I click on Install to install a dictionary extension that I had already downloaded, T-bird freezes. This is true in different copies of the same build 3.1.1, for different profiles.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Tools
2. Select Add-Ons
3. Select Extensions tab
4. Click on Install
5. Select the Extension which had been downloaded. 
Actual Results:  
1. The Finder spins and spins and freezes, without selecting the Extension desired. 
2. The only way to get out of T-bird is to force quit.

Expected Results:  
1. The Finder lets you select the Extension.
2. T-bird installs the Extension.

I just realized that the Attach function also causes T-bird to freeze!

1. Click on Attach
2. Select the Attachment
3. T-bird freezes
4. T-bird needs to be force quit.

hi Wayne (which is also my brother's name!), guess what? I think the culprit was the latest update for MS Office Suite for Mac , which I installed the day before all this weird stuff started happening! (Since I submitted the bug to Mozilla, my Finder also started freezing right and left, and not just in T-bird.) I removed the entire MS Office Suite just now and voilà, everything works properly again - knock on wood. Methinks it's time to opt for iWork from Apple, but thank you so much for looking into this already.
