and you rename mimestype.rdf in ~/Thunderbird/Profiles/*defaults/ ?
I have a similar issue. When I try to save pdf attachments I get an error. It says me about "Incorrect file name" and suggests me to check the file name. I've upgrated recently from 3.1.10 to 5.0. Before it was OK. User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:5.0) Gecko/20110624 Thunderbird/5.0

Reporter do you still see this problem when using recent version of Thunderbird?
Whiteboard: [closeme 2012-03-01]
It was in version 10.0.0. I've just updated to version 10.0.1 and it works properly now. Thanks.
