Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8
Build Identifier: 3.1.1

Thunderbird 3.1.1 crashed while downloading jpegs from IMAP account. Upon relelanch it crashed every single time when it got to the sync'ing with our IMAP accounts.

I dowloaded a new version of 3.1.1, reinstalled. Same issue. I was able to get it stable enough with the "what's new" dialog box, goto prefs and uninstall most of the add-ons. It crashed again. Attempted to work "off line," still crashed.

Attempted to toss some of the pref files, still crashed. So, I have been forced to revert to version 2.0.0.24, which is running stable.

Please advise.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch application
2. reinstall application
3. throw out prefs for application
Actual Results:
All the above: application crashed when it checks IMAP accounts.

Expected Results:
Launched and run in a stable fashion when checking IMAP and POP accounts.

This looks similar to bug 581946 in terms of the same line of code is crashing and in theory sqlite is supposed to avoid doing that even with gibberish input.

Andrew, indeed, we have some sqlite3VdbeExec crashes in thunderbird as well
http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/list?product=Thunderbird&query_search=signature&query_type=exact&query=sqlite3VdbeExec&date=08%2F04%2F2010%2013%3A13%3A17&range_value=4&range_unit=weeks&hang_type=any&process_type=all&plugin_field=&plugin_query_type=&plugin_query=&do_query=1&admin=&signature=sqlite3VdbeExec

70-80% appear to be startup.
unlike sqlite3Step, not all sqlite3VdbeExec crashes are v3.1
sqlite3VdbeExec is #257 crash for v3.1.1

Yep. I have reinstalled on several occasions, including using TBs update feature. Each time I have to reinstall version 2.0.0.24 (20100228)

sdwilsh, lostinbrooklyn has the file if any storage people want to examine it. he wrote me his crash went away after deleting global-messages-db.sqlite.

so perhaps the problem will be gone after bug 552050 sqllite 3.7.4 is fixed in version 3.1 (like for bug 605996). Leaving this bug open and not duping to anything for checking crash-stats in some future release.
Depends on: 552050
