Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8
Even though Firebug 1.5.4 says the response is 200.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Use the script from the URL with an existing URL.
Actual Results:
xmlhttp.status == 0
Expected Results:
xmlhttp.status == 200
Nevermind. I used the wrong method. ^^;

"The DONE state has an associated error flag that indicates some type of network error or abortion. It can be either true or false and has an initial value of false." http://www.w3.org/TR/XMLHttpRequest/#done-state
I can't find this error flag, but Firebug still gives response data and a non-zero status. So is this a Firebug bug?

Judging by xmlhttp.getResponseHeader("Server") returning null, i guess it should have caused a XSS security exception that the W3 implies should be hidden.
So i can only detect being online by the page being online, as a loose cable is detected by Windows but not detected by Firefox yet.
