Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8
Build Identifier: firefox 3.6.x

when firefox isn't running and I click a link in another app (like mail or whatever) firefox starts up and opens 2 windows: one with the URL of the link I clicked, and one with my homepage (which I don't want). This bug has been there for several versions now. AFAIR firefox 3.5.8 handled this correctly (only one window) but 3.6 opens 2 windows (not good.)

PS. I tried to contact you guys using email, but I never got a response, which is why I decided to file a bug report. I just can't believe this would be a feature. why would anyone add a "feature" as annoying as this?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. quit firefox
2. open another application that has a clickable http: or https: link
3. click the link.
Actual Results:
firefox launched and opened 2 windows:
- one with the URL from the link (good)
- one with my homepage (not good)

Expected Results:
firefox should have launched and opened ONE window, with the URL from the link I clicked.
