From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.75 [en] (Win95; U) BuildID: 2000101808 I have made a little test comparing the download times between Mozilla and Download Accelerator Plus for Windows. It showed Mozilla is lacking something there. Check it out : 1) Mozilla-win32-installer.exe 6.78M With Mozilla : - 2 minutes 46 seconds. - 2 minutes 55 seconds. With DAP : - 2 minutes 05 seconds. - 1 minute 55 seconds. 2) Scour Exchange, 1568K With Mozilla : - 13 seconds With DAP : - 13 seconds Note that DAP didn't find any mirror neither for Mozilla.exe nor for Scour. The site it is downloading from is thus the same as Mozilla is using. Note : I use the cable, so it doesn't quite matter for me. But it can get very frustrating for phone users to have to copy-paste the link in a download accelerator each time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just download anything and compare the times. Actual Results: DAP is much faster than Mozilla at raw downloading. It is much more clear on larger downloads. Expected Results: Better performance. Might want to add the performance keyword. Fabian.

What protocol are you testing? FTP? HTTP? Can you give a URL to the test file. Thanks!
I tested it off ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly and http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly (but I assume they are the same) for Mozilla nightlies, and for Scour I used cnet's download page, I don't know whether it is a ftp or http site. I'm sorry I don't have much time to make more precise measurements right now, but I'll try anyway. Fabian.

seems to work fine for me. but of course we can always improve. There doesn't seem to be anything specific being implicated in this bug-- hence I am marking this as WFM but I agree that we still have to improve the overall performance (there are other bugs for that already) closing this one.
reporter: This bug is a "futured" or "untargeted" bug which has been "resolved/works for me". Most bugs meeting this criteria are usually somewhat out of date or working in the current builds. If this bug is not happening for you in a recent build (such as the Mozilla daily build, Mozilla 0.9.3, or Netscape 6.1), please use the friendly "Mark bugs as VERIFIED" radio button to set this bug to "VERIFIED/WORKS FOR ME" If you reported the bug on a platform (e.g. Linux) and other contributors reported on another platform (e.g. Mac OS), please comment that it works for you but do not verify it yet. For these multi-platform bug reports, we need to verify all reported platforms -OR- create new "still broken on platform X" bugs when you verify.
VERIFIED I guess
