I think I have the terminology wrong, but here is the basic problem:
1) open a tab (say gmail)
2) go to a different tabcandy tab group (what is the proper term for that?)
3) type 'gmail' in the awesomebar
4) awesomebar offers to switch you to the gmail tab in the other tab group
5) hit enter to switch to the tab
6) (crickets)
You never go to the other tab/desktop; you're just stuck at the awesomebar in the other desktop. I'd expect that it would switch me to that other tab/tab group.
This is with the build from 08/02 via azarask.in/projects/.

I've tried the 08/02 build on windows and mac. The 08/02 build works for me. Do you see any errors in the Tools > Error Console?

Do you have other extensions installed in the same Firefox profile?

I tested again and found a wrinkle. If the tab opened in (1) is not in a group (not sure what that non-grouped state is called?), then it appears to fail; if the tab opened in (1) is in a tab group, then it works- you switch to that group. That seems to be reliable. Does not create any output in tools > error console.
I have a number of extensions installed; haven't tried it with a clean build.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b4pre) Gecko/20100813 Minefield/4.0b4pre
I have almost the same problem, not sure if it's the same bug or not.
When I start the browser, everything works just fine: switching between tabs no matter if the source or destination tab is in a group or not.
On the other hand, if I:
1. Enter the overview/Tab Candy mode and close all the tabs there.
2. Open two new groups and create a new tab in each.
-or-
2. Ctrl+T two ungrouped tabs
-or-
2. Open two new tabs in the same group
Now I can suddenly not tab-switch anymore, until I restart the browser.
The same behaviour is observed while in safe-mode.
There's nothing in the error console.

Please reopen if you can reproduce on a clean profile on recent builds. I could not reproduce.
