User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8 Build Identifier: Firefox/3.6.8 since upgrading to ff3.6.8 when i enter an address for maps.google.com, once the map comes up, i am unable to move the map with the mouse or use the magnification/demagification function on the maps. i get the google "slow uploading" and "troubleshooting" notes. i checked all google's troubleshooting and even changed one of the config components to 0 as they suggest...but it didnt make a difference. i am, however, able to use these same functions in maps.yahoo.com. thank you so much for evaluating this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to maps.google.com 2. enter any address 3. map loads slowly. 4. unable to use the +- [magnification, demagnification] functions or move the map around. Actual Results: NOTHING. can not utilities/function on google map. it just sits there. Expected Results: expected to be able to magnify or demagnify the map, move it around. the only work around is to use other map sites on the web. it maybe there is some incompatibility for ff3.6.8 with maps.google.com
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile
tim: thank you so much for responding. i did what you suggested, starting firefox in safe mode, which only caused more problems. after doing a bunch of things that i will list after this, i finally downloaded another copy of ff3.6.8 AND DELETED THE EXISTING firefox.exe and reinstalled ff from the new download. AND IT FINALLY WORKED. before this, i did the following things...and now worked. 1. changed the about:config as google suggested. 2. opened ff in safe mode. 3. created a new profile and again opened ff in both regular & safe mode. [when i closed ff in safe mode, my o/s would not recognize it was closed and therefore would not let me open a fresh ff even after restarting windows xp 3 times.] 4. it took several tries to even delete the new profile because, although created in the profile manager, the profile manager was not showing the new profile as existing. i had to use windows explorer delete to get rid of the new profile. 5. i downloaded fresh copies of ff 3 times but still could not get the google maps problem worked out. 6. FINALLY i decided to delete firefox.exe and reinstall 3.6.8. THIS WORKED...meaning i could open firefox, all my adds, etc were there AND I GOT MAPS.GOOGLE.COM TO WORK. FINALLY. my guess: some how the firefox.exe got corrupted. i hope my problem, attempts & resolution will help someone else work thru a similar problem. thank you again,.
After jumping through all the other hoops, I tried this reinstall. Google Maps still doesn't work! Ff said I needed to download a new version of Shockwave as well, so I did that. Still no google maps. (sigh!)
it's not working again. after all i went thru [see above], i opened ff tonight...and maps.google.com is doing the same bad things again. PLZ SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS AND SEE IF IT'S A GOOGLE PROBLEM OR A FF PROBLEM. THANK YOU.

I'm still having the problem as well. Yes, please, if someone has an answer I'd love to hear it!
OOOPS...just tried maps.google.com in the dreaded IE....and it's good with google maps. so it has to be something in ff. i haven't added any add-ons so i dont think it's that. i think its something in 3.6.8 version of ff, as when i upgraded to it that's when the problems began. i'm surprised more people have not reported this...or maybe they don't know about bugzilla.
Reporter -> Are you still experiencing this issue with the latest version of firefox? Have you tried a new profile?
I have my google maps working again! (have my email icons and flags back as well!) Removed firefox entirely--- previously I had not wiped out all my settings: bookmarks, plug-ins, etc. This time I removed EVERYTHING. (first exported bookmarks into IE so I could retrieve them!) Also checked for updates for everything... java, flash, everything. Apparently the combination worked, I've had everything back for awhile now. Still having issues with unresponsive scripts though, but that's a separate issue! :P
