When I try to click a google groups link, I get bounced back and forth indefinitely between the login service and the groups URL. I saw this yesterday, too, on a different URL. It works if I use a clean/test profile, which is not logged into google services, and it works on Chrome and IE even if I'm logged into gmail there (man, IE8 + gmail...the things I do for the web). I can't copy out of the web console, but I can take screenshots, so: http://grab.by/grabs/b0efc722c021f06ca7604a0e8d05972c.png
I assume logging into gmail in your clean profile also made the problem appear? Does it work if you spoof the Firefox 3.6 UA?
I can't make it happen on demand in the clean profile, so I wonder what sort of log I should gather. Will try cookies, I think!
I seem to recall dwitte saying something about one-time cookie brokenness recently...
A couple ways we can prove it's said brokenness, the first stronger than the second: 1) Do you have duplicate cookies for google.com or its subdomains? Cookie manager can tell you; just look for cookies with the same name. 2) If you remove google.com cookies, does this go away? And not come back? The brokenness was fixed a while back; but you could have remnants of duplicate cookies sticking around, in which case removing them is necessary and sufficient.
I do have duplicate cookies for google.com, though they differ in many cases by path. I assume that I need the ones with the same path, too. I had some of those duplicates as well, including for /account/. Deleting them resolved it. (Searching for "google.com" in the cookie manager, once Ehsan showed me the arcane dance to bring it up in the prefs window, also shows an entry for "koders.com" which doesn't contain google.com anywhere in the name or value of the cookie as well: http://grab.by/grabs/506fa92cf8ce12970d253fe84a72f423.png -- bug I should file?) Was this something that will affect beta users? Do we need a relnote?
Didn't make it into beta -- just a few nightlies. Among people who ran those nightlies, however, it's been a common problem. Most people probably try clearing cookies, but maybe this warrants an announcement. What do you think? The koders.com thing is weird. I take it the Content: line isn't truncated by the UI? Could well be a bug in cookiemgr, it's an ancient beast. If so, I can file.
