Selecting "tabs on top" from the menu does not make the tabs go on top.
Also had the same issue with 4.0b3pre.
App tabs however work fine (if a little small in Linux)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. right click on the menu or view->toolbars
2. click "tabs on top"
Actual Results:  
Tabs do not move.

Expected Results:  
Tabs should go on top.

Running Kubuntu Lucid 10.04 with kde 4.4.5, firefox from either ppa or mozilla's ftp daily builds.
I have marked this bug as major, as tabs on top is a major part of the new interface, and is completely broken in KDE (haven't tried in Gnome)

Latest Minefield (from FTP) + Kubuntu 10.04 + KDE 4.4.2 and tabs on top works fine for me. Only thing I see different between us is that you for some reason are running a minor KDE release newer than mine, which for one reason or another Ubuntu has not posted as a default update, and I'm 32-bit whereas you're 64-bit.

You can reproduce this in a new profile and safe mode?

I ended up figuring out what was wrong.
I tried the blank profile and all looks fine.
I like a very compact layout, as little space being used up by the UI as possible, and many years ago I moved the location bar/google search up next to the menu and turned off the navigation bar.
I've re-enabled the navigation bar and moved the location box and google box back down and all is working.
Now to get the firefox button/menu and get rid of the menu like in Windows =)

Thanks, got the Hide Menubar addon installed earlier, works fine (after restarting FF twice).
Would be great to have the interface kept consistent through platforms, I understand of course there are technical limitations that make this difficult.
I'm all for streamlining the UI, I love compact interfaces that give you as much browsing real-estate as possible, however, I don't quite go as far as browsing in F11 full screen mode.
