Patch

I've been playing with this and I think it's a nice touch.

I'm not sure the code is good looking but I'm not gonna play with it more if it's not approved :)

You can see the result on http://mozilla.ricaud.me/en-US/firefox/beta/technology/#feature-html5 (don't stare at the red header, it is just to show it's not mozilla.com)

You should try with a cubic-ed transition. Something like:

-moz-transition-timing-function: cubic-bezier(0.3, 1.6, 0.7, 1);
Priority: -- → P2
This looks good to me.
Does someone have time to implement this on the page? Wasn't sure who to assign it to. Steven, if you have a moment...? Just a nice to have though ;)
