I've been playing with this and I think it's a nice touch.

I'm not sure the code is good looking but I'm not gonna play with it more if it's not approved :)

You should try with a cubic-ed transition. Something like:

-moz-transition-timing-function: cubic-bezier(0.3, 1.6, 0.7, 1);
