Our goal for including a news feed (RSS/ATOM) in the live bookmark is to demonstrate dynamic, changing and relevant content. We would suggest you choose something your users are interested in and that is locally relevant. The guidelines for making recommendations are on <https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Firefox/Productization>. By default this is the same as en-US, which is BBC news.

Armen, do you have any suggestions?

The implementation is done via a change of the redirect on mozilla.com, and is a server-side change only.

After a proper look at Alexa and from feedback I got I have come with this list:

    http://tert.am/am/ - #10
    http://news.am/arm - #14
    http://armsport.am/ - #17 (no feed - sports)
http://www.a1plus.am/am - #29 - it even has youtube videos in Armenian
    http://www.armtech.am/ #49 - technology portal

I still have to run through the rest of the collaborators for one last check and I will need suggestions with armsport.am since it seems that there is no obvious feed for it. Any ideas?

Do we have to get in touch with each site to get permission? Any suggested paragraph to translate and request that from them?

You are not going to contact each of them, but select the best feed for the Live Bookmarks option and then reach to that service. We can only go with one option since that will be the feed provided in the hy-AM version. It looks like tert.am is the first option, but what is it? We use BBC as the default in en-US. Is tert.am a news service? Should we go with news.am? If you can provide a quick description, that would be great.

It is the most popular news website with 46% of its visitors from Armenia. We are going to choose this site.
news.am and tert.am are about the same quality but one of them is more popular.

Can I proceed to get in touch with tert.am?

PS = tert means newspaper in Armenian :)

Sounds good to me. Can you reach out to a contact at tert.am and ask them if it is OK to include them as the "Live Bookmark" for the hy-AM version? You should explain to them that this could me an increased load to the servers depending on the adoption of the hy-AM version of Firefox. Keep in mind that our technology allows each unique hy-AM Firefox to repeatedly ping the Live Bookmark news feed, looking for updates. So, it can be quite a load to their servers, but as I said, depending on adoption.

With confirmation from them, we can set up our server infrastructure to include their RSS feed in the official Armenian version. Please CC me and Stas on the email to hy-AM, but don't feel obligated to write to them in English. We should also get a confirmation email from them before proceeding.

We have switched to news.am as term.am was never getting back to us.
I already forwarded the confirmation to sethb.

Can we get this going?

I can file the bug to get IT to make the change. Can you send me the feed URL so I can test it?
