Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100802 Thunderbird/3.1.2
Thunderbird command "Offline > Download/Sync now" downloads Usenet articles to the "read" folder. The normal behaviour should be downloading only "unread" articles.
See attached picture. 75 unread articles, total 191 articles, and "downloading articles 62 of 135".
Problem exists in Thunderbird final version and in the latest nightlies, with and without add-ons, on two different news-servers.
Reproducible: Always

So what happens if you want to read an email that has the read status while you are offline ?

Offline synchronization always has downloaded all messages, irrespective of read, watched, or ignored status, and it is completely independent of what view you use.
