User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b3) Gecko/20100805 Firefox/4.0b3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b3) Gecko/20100805 Firefox/4.0b3
Sometimes the location bar skips keystrokes when typing URLs very fast. An example would be if I'm typing "www.dn.se", it sometimes becomes "wwwdn.se" or "ww.dn.se" and similar patterns. It's not sloppy typing from my side and it's seems to happen for any URL pattern.
I can not strictly confirm this yet, but I have a feeling that it's mostly happening after waking up the computer from the screensaver. After a few minutes of usage the problem is gone.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Wait until computer activates screensaver
2. Wake up and type URL in location bar very fast
Actual Results:
Some random keystrokes are sometimes skipped
Expected Results:
Should not skip keystrokes
I didn't see this when running FF 6.3.8 on the same machine, but I had similar, though not identical, issues with the search/google bar where it was "eating" keystrokes.
Minimizing the window and then going back seems to be a workaround in both cases.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on an HP EliteBook with an Intel I7 and 4GB RAM.
I upgraded to FF 4.0 Beta 4 a couple of days ago and I can't reproduce the bug since the upgrade.

Typing fast in the location bar skips keystrokes.
I'm using 3.6.9+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 10.10, but the bug was also present in 10.04.
I can also reproduce this bug in Ubuntu 10.04 with Firefox 3.6.12, it's been happening for a couple versions now. Also the workaround does work for me (minimizing Firefox and then going back in)
Also during the slow/skipped keystrokes it doesn't bring up the suggestion menu from your history. I don't want to clear my history, but it could be happening because I have a lot of history items.

I can confirm this bug is still there on Firefox 14 (Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1).
I unfortunately do not have a reliable way to reproduce this, but will report back if I find one.
It may be of interest that I just observed this when waking my laptop from suspend-to-ram. After experiencing the bug I closed and re-opened firefox, and that solved it temporarily. I do NOT have a screensaver (or screen lock or anything of the sort).

Do you see this if Firefox is started in safe mode?

Ah, actually I have not observed this problem for at least a year now. I'm currently using Firefox 33 on Linux Mint 17/Qiana.
