User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b5pre) Gecko/20100822 Minefield/4.0b5pre

It's hard to notice in the en-Us build, indeed I found this "issue" out with the italian one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use a Ubuntu clean system or a live cd,with Firefox 3.6.8 or the latest Minefield on a clean profile;
2.click to open the "File" menu or the "Edit" menu;
3.click them again.
Actual Results:
The menus become a bit wider when you click them one more time.

Expected Results:
Menus should not increase their width after the fist click.

With the italian build even the Bookmarks menu becomes wider, and the caption "Aggiungi ai segnalibri..." is cut off to "Aggiungi ai segnali...".

Attached 2 screenshots that confirms how menu width changes after first click.
As you say, hard to notice but it's there.
Not reproduced on the latest Firefox 28 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.
Norepro on Nightly either. I'm pretty sure the menus have been totally revamped by now.
