In Minefield 4.0b5pre, the following alerts

<script>
//'use strict';'
alert('hi');
</script>

but with the 'use strict' uncommented, it fails to alert.
You have a trailing single quote on that first line. So there is an error reported to the error console (which you did look at, right?):

 Error: unterminated string literal
 Source File: whatever
 Line: whatever, Column: 17
 Source Code:
     'use strict';'

and the script fails to even compile.

OMG, I'm really sorry. I think some helpful editor may have helpfully inserted this extra quote. But yes, I had not looked at the console. I just did and it gives a clear explanation of the error. I'll be less sloppy before reporting the next anomaly.

No worries. This happens; I've had editors do all sorts of weird stuff to my source filed at times (and sometimes lie about what they did, even!).
