Steps to reproduce:

1. Start Fennec
2. Open a new tab
3. Enter "download" in URL bar
4. Select one of the available search engines: Google/Amazon/Twitter/Wikipedia  

Expected results:
Google/Amazon/Twitter/Wikipedia searches and returns results. Search field in those pages contains "download"

Actual results:
Main page of the search engine selected is displayed. Search field is empty or it does not contain searched item. No results are displayed.

When I type 'download' and then hit any of the search engines, what gets searched is  "Mozilla Firefox Start Page"
