can't install: some xpi packages fail to install

Details
This problem STARTS WITH NOVEMBER 3 BUILD; Nov. 2 build and earlier did not have
this problem. During install, three error dialogs come up, all with the message:
Error [-621] an installer module (xpi) failed to install
I have a similar (or maybe identical) problem with Netscape 6 when installing as
non-root, and even though i can install Netscape 6 as root, it segfaults if i
try to run it as non-root.

I can no longer reproduce this bug. It seemed to affect only the November 3
build. (I just hope the problem is also addresed in Netscape, which i still
can't install.)
