User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Eudora OSE 1.0 rc2 If the preference Automatically mark as read --> Immediately on display is checked the mails are not marked as read at all when marked in the preview pane. (It works if the option "After displaying X seconds" is choose instead.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.In options, under Advanced --> Message & dicplay, choose Automatically mark as read --> Immediately on display an click OK. 2. Mark an unread message in the preview pane 3. Actual Results: The message stays marked as unread if no further actions are taken (such as right-clicking and select mark as read or opening the message) Expected Results: The message should get marked as read immediately
On my list of things to fix too -- although am unsure if it is supposed to work this way. I'd guess the idea is that it is not "read" if it's only in the preview pane> But I would like this feature too. Maybe by making it an option to "Consider previewed messages as read"
It is actually supposed to work this way. It mimics Classic Eudora. If you want preview messages to mark the message as read right away, then you can set it to After displaying for 0 seconds.

Actually, I'm sure the e-mails have gotten marked as read immediately when marked in the preview pane with this option. Otherwise I wouldn't have reacted on it in the first place, it was when I updated to the latest version it suddenly did not work any longer. But I am using the 0 seconds option instead and it works for me.
This parity with Classic Eudora was made in beta 9.
