User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; m18) Gecko/20001103
BuildID: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; m18) Gecko/20001103 (MN6)
When visiting the game information site http://www.evilavatar.com, Mozilla
freezes after displaying the top header. This page has a very long series of
messages, which appear to download for a while. Then everything stops,
including the throbber and the UI. I waited a few minutes for it to recover, but
ultimately I was forced to administer the Ctrl-Alt-Delete death blow.
The page works in IE5 and NS4. Regardless of whether the page has compliant
HTML (probably not), it shouldn't lock up the browser.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Visit http://www.evilavatar.com
Actual Results: I see the top header appear, then data downloads for ~5-10
seconds (144Kb connection). After that, the UI is locked up.
Expected Results: Once the page has downloaded, it should be displayed, or at
least the UI should continue to work.

confirming, but I don't crash, rather it takes some time for the page to load,
after which everything is normal. --> layout
Wow, you're right. It does finally display the page after having locked the UI
completetely (no menus, buttons, scrolling, or updates) for 90 seconds.
I thought I had waited longer than that, but still, 90 seconds of
unresponsiveness is not very friendly. It freezes all your Mozilla windows, not
just the one browsing www.evilavatar.com.
This is on a 400MHz Pentium 2 with 128Mb of memory. For comparison purposes,
IE5 takes 10 seconds to display the page, and the UI works the whole time.
should probably change the summary to reflect the real problem.

Loading the page takes a while for me (using a 56k modem) but the UI stays very
much responsive the whole time, I'll try again when I'm on a faster network. Or
did the site change?

Resolution: --- → DUPLICATE
I think the problem with the site has been fixed. I'm willing to believe that
this is the same bug as 54163 since I checked out that site at the time and the
behavior 'smelled the same'. Resolving as a dupe, since the original bug is not
present on the original site any more.
