This is about the file that is generated when double clicking a pdf attachment during email composition using Thunderbird 3.1.2, Mac OSX 10.5.8, Preview 4.2, and Acrobat 9.3.4. Tried to attach several copies to your bug report but would not send because error message said 'file Is empty'. Names include:AJNxjKjF.pdf.part,8wd4AGRh.pdf.part, ncFtp+sx.pdf.part, _9isfT7q.pdf.part, etc.  

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compose email
2.Attach pdf
3.Double click attachment to check before sending
Actual Results:  
Pdf opens in Preview 4.2 and drops a partial pdf file on my desktop

Expected Results:  
In the past pdf would open without dropping files on my desktop

Does the temporary file disapears when you close Preview and send the email ?

Attachment: zipped pdf.part files generated when opening a pdf attachment

These files stay on my desktop until I delete them. I am a graphic designer and sends proofs as pdfs - I have had as many as 20 generated at the same time (1 for each file opened). I have attached 7 from Friday.

She's getting the same results in -safe-mode.

Opened terminal, typed in |/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -safe-mode
recreated problem, sent file, control c out of terminal, closed thunderbird, file remains on desktop (attached)
