Do you get this in the Firefox safemode http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode ?
Do you blocked google-analytics with an host entry ?

I'm seeing the same problem on Firefox 3.6.8 on FreeBSD 9/x86-64 (amd64)
Firefox blocks on "Transferring from ..." (most often that's www.google-analytics.com, but not always). After a few moments, checking with netstat -f inet (or -f inet6) shows that no TCP connection is active anymore.
This happens when configured bofh with or without a HTTP proxy.

The google script may blocking the loading of other things. This can happen if google-analytics is blocked either by an addon, host file or firewall.

Still present on FF 3.6.13 / FreeBSD 8.2.
Not blocking anything: no ad blocker, no forced or disabled resolution of google-analytics.com, no site-specific IP filtering.

Pierre, can you provide a Mozilla HTTP log (using Firefox 7 preferably)
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/HTTP_Logging ?

Took me some time running with logs to be able to catch it, but here it is.
Sorry, the log is very long (over 5 MB), so I compressed it using bzip2. Sorry I can't make the test case shorter, I'm totally unable to. There are many tabs running, causing noise in the output (from a twitter tab in particular), but this may have a relation to the bug, so I left it.
On Firefox 7.0.1 running under FreeBSD 8.2 / amd64.
Many tabs open.
1) Hung on "transferring from google-analytics.com" during access to URL : http://www.digimantra.com/technology/javascript/check-username-availability-validation-ajaxphp/
Page had only the headline visible, not the article text.
2) waited several minutes, did nothing more before 18:45:19 GMT (seen in logs at line 51936)
3) a few seconds later, clicked on the Firefox URL bar, hit ENTER to restart load. Page loaded correctly.
I'm attaching the log as log-bug591782.txt.bz2
Feel free to ask me for more information if you need details about my FF configuration, plugins, etc. (I'm running ghostery as you can see in the log).

Bug log for hung + restarted access to http://www.digimantra.com/technology/javascript/check-username-availability-validation-ajaxphp/
Hung access until 18:45:19 GMT (line 51936) on "transferring from google-analytics.com".
Restarted and finished successfully a few seconds afterwards.

Yes. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD amd64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2.
The problem disappears when Ghostery is enabled (no accesses to Google Analytics?).

PS : sorry, I'm not the reporter but I felt like replying anyway since I avoided opening a duplicate bug report. Also, see my logs from October.

No. some tests with Chrome, it seems to work just fine.

Okay, can you try to create completely clean profile and check, if problem appears with it too. Helpful link - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
