Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b5pre) Gecko/20100831 Firefox/4.0b5pre

    File: Flash Player.plugin
    Version: 10.1.53.64
    Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

STR:

1) Go to http://www.kwmckinney.com/sell_property_value.html . This will load a banner in the upper part of the page that is actually flash.

2) Try to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Expected results: The page content is viewable as expected.

Actual results: The box where the flash banner is displayed becomes permanent on the screen, displaying the background color of the page and will even persist through other tabs loaded in the same window.

It doesn't always happen, but I can always reproduce the problem when I click around using the Buy and Sell links just above the banner. When navigating using those links, once the new page is displayed, the box containing the flash instance from the previous page will persist into the new page with the background color.
I should clarify the "It doesn't always happen" part above: It's always reproducible if you click around. It just doesn't always happen if you just do steps 1 and 2. It might take clicking on another link before you see it. You'll have to click a link, try to scroll, if you don't see it, click another link, try to scroll. You should see it then.

I can easily reproduce this (in today's Minefield nightly) by doing
the following:

1) Start Minefield and load
   http://www.kwmckinney.com/sell_property_value.html.

2) From the Flash banner choose Buy : Find a Property.

3) Scroll up and down -- a grey box will appear in the Flash banner's
   original location.

4) Switch tabs while the grey box is at least partly visible -- it
will persist in the new tab.

This bug has the same regression range as bug 592563 and bug 592691,
and is presumably related.

I've confirmed that this bug (like bug 592563) was triggered by the following patch:

Sounds like it. But lets dup bug 592657 to this one, since the story is clearer here.

Happy for the dupe, but does this also cover the page-render glitches indicated in bug 592657 comment 4? If so, I think it should be re-summarized to indicate that it's not just scrolling that causes the problem.
How about this?

As best I can tell these problems happen only when at least one of the pages being viewed contains plugins -- possibly only Flash plugins.

If I find otherwise I'll change the description again.

I'm desperately trying to finish my new JEP.

But this bug (or a related one) kills it. So I'm going to drop everything else in an attempt to fix it.

I've got a patch for this bug (and a tryserver build) at bug 592563 comment
#21. Please try it out!
Thanks for jumping on this Steven as this is a killer bug that we must fix.

I can confirm that the Steven's tryserver build in bug 592563 does fix the Flash object leftover artifacts problem.
Fixed by my patch for bug 592563, which just landed on the trunk.

I'm still seeing this on latest nightlies:

STR:
1. Go to http://tiff.net/filmsandschedules/tiff/2010/10to11
2. Scroll down on the page
3. Notice that there are artifacts in the titlebar

(note, I re-opened this as the titlebar part of the bug was part of bug 592657 which got duped here - I can open a new one just for the titlebar portion of this problem if you'd like; the white rectangles are definitely gone)
> I can open a new one just for the titlebar portion of this problem if you'd like

Please do, and cc me.

> the white rectangles are definitely gone

Glad to hear it.

I think we can close this bug again, now.
