Seen with nov3 mn6 branch commercial build on Win98, assume all platforms
After doing the steps outlined below (which are steps to produce bug 59031),
subsequent newsgroup messages read are "trashed" (as described in bug 57665).
The message pane contents will display all headers (headers inn 6.0 should be
contained within the header envelope) and the text of the message all squished
togethter with no formatting, no wrapping.
1. Open a newsgroup in the main mail window, message pane is open.
2. Select a message posted by another user and open to a standalone window.
(Not sure if standalone window is mandatory, but that's how I did it when I saw
the problem.)
3. In the standalone window, Edit|Delete Message. Alert appears telling you
it's not your posting, so you can't cancel it. OK the alert dialog. Close the
standalone message window.
4. Return to the newsgroup in the main mail window, post a message to the
group, get it and select it.
5. Edit|Delete Message. Confirm OK to cancel the message.
6. Select other messages, read them. Note the selection is off from message
pane to thread pane selection. After selecting a few messages, you'll see
message pane contents trashed as described above -- headers and body in the
message pane, no formatting, no wrapping.

I tried this on build 2001032304 on Windows 2000. I'm betting that the outliner
widget landing fixed this. I tried Laurel's steps to a T ;-) Marking worksforme.
