See bug 547810 and bug 550253, which have pretty much been the only two "mobile-device detection" bugs for Mozilla.com. Going forward, we should figure out our long-term strategy for mobile-phone/device detection/redirects; this came up in today's Mozilla.com meeting, and I would like to have better sense of our mobile-support story on Mozilla.com. Specifically: * Webdev and WebQA would need an updated list of supported devices/user-agents, as well as to where each platform should redirect (Both Webdev and WebQA have written tests (http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/tests/) for mobile/desktop user-agents, and we'd like to keep our tests accurate and passing) Open questions: * Will we be supporting both Android and Maemo/Meego device detection/redirects? * Will there be/is there a central place to reference all supported devices and their user-agents (which will help us in testing)? Because it's production, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/platforms/ probably won't help QA test before we ship new pages on Mozilla.com * Should we be messaging or redirecting users of platforms we support who are not on Fennec, to download it (from /m)? * For the redesign, will there be new mobile pages, or will we be updating the current ones, with new information/style? * Will we use a separate stylesheet on Mozilla.com for our supported mobile devices? Closing old Mozilla.org website bugs due to them not being relevant to the new Python-based Bedrock system. Re-open if this is a critical bug and should be resolved on the new system too.
