In order to see the effect, one has to exit and re-enter the folder.  Speculation is that this could have been a casualty of the front-end rewrite, but we don't have any actual evidence of that yet.

Happens on Windows and Linux too.
It only works as expected for ignored subthreads with a parent message.
Ignored subthreads without a parent message behave as ignored threads.
