User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100722 Eudora/3.0.4 After installing "classic" Eudora (e.g. 7.1.0.9) one sees "Eudora" as a choice for default email program in "Internet Options" After installing OSE, the same name "Eudora" is used. Does this make it impossible to maintain both as choices in Windows, for "default email program"? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install "classic" Eudora, e.g. 7.1.0.9 2. Install OSE, e.g. 1.0rc2 3. Open "Internet Options" control panel, "Programs" tab 4. Look for choices under "E-mail" 5. There is only _one_ Eudora, which can not represent _both_ programs. 6. Since the same name "Eudora" is also listed for "Newsgroups," it appears that OSE is also calling itself "Eudora" Actual Results: (see "steps to reproduce") Expected Results: It would seem desirable to distinguish "classic" Eudora from OSE, so that either one could be designated as "default email program"
I have read postings from people who admit to having even installed both "classic" Eudora and OSE into the same "program files" directory. I don't know how many conflicts/overwrites that might produce, but certainly the file name "Eudora.exe" is in conflict. If that is the only conflict (which dooms such an overwrite to completely wipe out the alternate program), perhaps an alternate name for OSE's "exe" file would be useful? (and a corresponding registry entry so that windows "Run" dialog can find it without needing its full path name, just as for "Thunderbird")
Is there any update to this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
(In reply to robert from comment #2) > Is there any update to this? Does anyone have any suggestions? The "Penelope" project was apparently abandoned during 2010, immediately after Qualcomm declared OSE 1.0 (made from obsolete Thunderbird version 3.0, and formerly in "beta" as "OSE rc2") ready to drop the "beta" designation, so "bugs" belonging to project "Penelope" would appear to have no future prospects, other than via suggestions to "switch to an updated Thunderbird after completing any importing under OSE."
Penelope didn't see any activity in the vcs for the last 8 years, closing.
